- Lead 3M global efforts in process and materials optimization for elastomer-based & thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) pavement marking adhesive system.
- Materials optimization and redesign of 3M’s elastomer and thermoplastic elastomer based surface preparation and spray adhesives portfolio.
- Teaching corporate classes and mentoring product and process engineers on the fundamentals of rubber based adhesive formulation and processing.
- Redesigned the Banbury process for production of pavement marking pre-mix backing, including implementation of rheological process control.
- Worked with tackifying resin vendors to optimize their process and materials to improve the compatibility and performance of their products in 3M rubber-based adhesives.

- Lead 3M global efforts in the development of new products utilizing elastomer and thermoplastic elastomer-based pressure sensitive adhesive adhesives. These include:
- 3M #2097 Outdoor masking tape: Novel blended elastomer and thermoplastic elastomer system designed to impart UV stability, clean paint lines, and clean removal.
- 3M Temflex 165/175 Vinyl Electrical Tapes: Novel blended elastomer and thermoplastic elastomer system designed to be co-extruded with flexible backing, allow controlled unwind, meet UL requirements and prevent lift.
- 3M Comply 1322/1355 Indicator Tapes: Novel blended elastomer and thermoplastic elastomer system designed to withstand the high temperatures of sterilization, have controlled roll unwind and allow for clean removal from woven fabrics.
- 3M Box-Lock Clear to the Core Packaging Tape: Novel thermoplastic elastomer system designed to allow improved performance on recycled corrugated packaging.
- 3M Flex and Seal Packaging: Novel blended elastomer and thermoplastic elastomer system designed to self-seal without sticking to the contents of the packaged materials.
- 3M Condensation Management Film: Novel blended elastomer and thermoplastic elastomer system designed to adhere to the wide variety of piping found in food service facilities, withstand the high humidity and moisture of steam cleaning and allow clean removal.
- Lead 3M global efforts in the process optimization and quality improvement for elastomer and thermoplastic elastomer based pressure sensitive adhesive adhesives. Key projects included:
- Redesign of the milling and twin sigma blade process for the elastomer based 3M Wafer Planarization Adhesives.
- Redesign and raw material optimization of elastomer and thermoplastic elastomer based 3M vinyl floor marking tapes.
- Implementation of rheological process control for the thermoplastic elastomer based 3M Box Sealing and Packaging Tapes.
- Optimization of the elastomer based Banbury process for 3M 33+ Vinyl Electrical Tape.
- New raw material development and implementation for the elastomer and thermoplastic elastomer based 3M Command products
- Lead 3M efforts with rubber and resin R&D and manufacturing teams to investigate and develop new raw materials for rubber-based pressure sensitive adhesive systems and to improve the quality and performance of vendor rubbers and resins. Key projects included:
- Development and implementation of terpene-phenol resins with optimized compatibility in rubber-based systems.
- Implementation of novel IR quality release test at resin vendor to assure material meets the specific 3M requirements for isomeric make up.
- Process redesign to control esterification level and acid number for rosin ester, to assure compatibility in 3M rubber- based adhesives.
- Process optimization to control hydrogenation level for specific isomers in rosin esters to assure performance in 3M rubber-based adhesives.
- Process redesign to control aromatic content in hydrocarbon resins, to maintain shear performance in 3M thermoplastic elastomer adhesives.
- Evaluation and qualification of thermoplastic elastomers of varying styrene and di-block levels to prevent supply chain disruption.
- Evaluation and qualification of elastomers of varying Money viscosity and MW distribution to prevent supply chain disruption.
- Teaching corporate classes and mentoring product and process engineers on the fundamentals of rubber based adhesive formulation and processing, rheology, and the chemistry of tackifying resins.
